Can the wheelchair Hippocampe roll over stones or the land?

The Hippocampe wheelchair is accessible on all types of surface, its dual tires help to ride over any obstacle.  Are there many sizes available?

The wheelchair Hippocampe is available in 4 sizes :

• Small - for children or those less than 4' 7"

• Medium -for teenagers and adults 4' 7" to 5′ 5". This can be used by most of the people.

• Large -for adults between 5′ 5" and 6' 1"

• Xtra Large - for adults over 6' 1" 

Can you use the wheelchair Hippocampe on your own?

If you can propel yourself, you can use the wheelchair on your own otherwise you can be pushed thanks to the push bar and tow rope.

Does the wheelchair Hippocampe float in the water, is it a boat?

The Hippocampe wheelchair floats in the water but it is not a boat or safety flotation device. It is a wheelchair to enter the water and once you’ve got water at your waist you can get out of the Hippocampe to swim while the Hippocampe floats on its own.

Is the width of the seat adjustable?

No, the width of the seat is not adjustable. The seat is 15.75" wide and between rear tires there is 19.68" wide space so anyone can be seated comfortably..

Optional Stabilo Seating:

The STABILO is a seat of stable positioning with the capability to be easily shaped in any desired form and maintain it.  In maintaining the corrected positions following the rehabilitation, it improves the posture and the body maintenance (Spasticity, scoliosis, kyphosis...).

The STABILO can be easily positioned on the seat of the Hippocampe All Wheelchair.  It is possible to transfer it from on chair to another, and it is an excellent complement of therapeutic sittings.  The rigidity of the seat is adjusted with the vacuum pump that pulls the air contained in the seat to create vacuum and to set the desired shape.

COMPOSITION: Seat is comprised of synthetic rubber covered of a blue anti-allergenic jersey nylon cover that obtains the adequate water and airtightness to get the vacuum. Fine granules with a high friction capacity allowing the lightness and the malleability of the seat.  The seat cover in neoprene is hyper deformable, ensures the waterproofing and the desired shape memory property.

FUNCTIONING: The pump creates an air vacuum by fixing the granules while letting them move each other due to the weight and pressure effect.  It offers an unlimited possibility of shapes and hardness for a particularly stable system.  The granules avoid the pressures on the whole support seating surfaces.  To change the shape of the seat, you just have to open the valve and let enter the air in to create a new shape, then to recreate the vacuum to obtain the hardness or the desired softness.

RIGIDITY AND DURABILITY: The seat keeps its shape and its density several months following the user behavior. In effect, if the user is agitated or spastic, the change of positions and the spasms necessitate a bi-monthly adjustment.  A Temperature increase will tend to soften the seat, whereas the cold will rigidify it, this variation is always minimal and correctable with the vacuum pump.

WASHING: The coating in jersey nylon is easy care.  It is advised to wash it in a shower tray or a bath at 60 degrees maximum. The use of chlorine or solvent is forbidden.  Do not put it in the washing machine.

DRYING: Can be dried with paper towels or a hair driver not to exceed 60 degrees.
