2. How do I know which lift to select?

3. What is a hitch mounted lift?
Most vehicles can support a hitch receiver used for towing trailers. Harmar has lifts that plug into that receiver to carry mobility scooters and power chairs. There are various sizes of lifts that support different models of scooters and powerchairs.

4. Can I put the scooter inside an SUV?
Maybe. Some SUV’s support inside electric lifts and some do not. There are requirements for flooring, height, width and door opening style. Use the Lift Calculator to determine if your vehicle will support an inside lift.

5. What is the maximum weight lifts can carry?
Each lift has a specified amount of weight it can lift from 200 to 450 pounds. The specifications for each model is listed on the product page.

6. Do lifts come with a remote controller?
Inside lifts include a hand held remote controller with an option for a remote control. Outside scooter lifts have an Up/Down toggle switch on the lift.

7. How are Wheelchair lifts powered?
Lifts are powered using a battery. Typically, the battery of the vehicle is used with a wiring harness that comes with each lift. The other option is a battery pack that mounts to the lift. This option is to allow the lift to be moved to different vehicles which do not have wiring.

8. How do we install the wheelchair lifts?
Lifts are easy to install and can be done by anyone that is knowledgeable of how to use a socket set and can manage the weight of the parts to install the lift. Each lift comes with very detailed instructions for installation.

9. Who provides the maintenance of these lifts?
There is no maintenance required to keep lifts operating. They are made to be in the weather and work for years.
